Violence in Kosovo ahead of local polls

Balkanblog | November 12, 2009 - 22:24 | 2 years ago

Rocks and eggs were thrown at the convoy of Kosovo prime minister Hashim Thaci in the town of Decan, just days ahead of Kosovo's first local polls next Sunday. This is the first time local elections are held after Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in February 2008. Three arrests were made.

German KFOR commander general Markus Bentler said that 13,000 KFOR troops will be ready to respond if needed.
