Novinite.com reported that Macedonia has indicated it is ready to hold direct talks with Greece regarding the long standing name dispute. The prime ministers of both countries have until December 2 to resolve the issue so that the European Commission can be informed of the new name for Macedonia on December 2.

Macedonia could then start EU accession negotiations in April 2010.
