She is an eight-week old German Shepherd cross. It is entirely coincidental but the resemblance with our German Shepherd that recently passed away is remarkable.
Well... That did not work out so well. Of all the things that Reba is, she has nothing in common with a German Shepherd. She is a collie. One hundred percent. And as such, she used her instinct to herd our 1 year old in a stalking, almost predatory mode. After having nipped at her numerous times and after having bitten her twice we decided that this is not the kind of behavior we were willing to deal with for the next few years until our 1 year old is old enough that she can better understand what it is that makes her such a target for Reba.
Long story short, we returned her to the organization and handed her to her temporary foster home. There are children there as well, the youngest being 4 years old so that may work out better.
Reba is very intelligent and especially on a farm she would do well, but she was simply not for us at this time in our 1 year old's life.
