Kosovo newest member of IMF and World Bank

Kosovo became the 186th member of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The documents were signed by Kosovo president Fatmir Sejdiu and prime minister Hashim Thaci during a ceremony at the US State Department.
Drupal: show taxonomy term description on page

I wanted to display the taxonomy term description on taxonomy pages like site.com/taxonomy/term/n (where n is the term ID).
It actually took me quite a while but I figured it out. You can use the function taxonomy_get_term(n) where n represents the term ID.
In page.tpl.php I added the following code just before the print $content statement:

Milan Martic — former wartime political leader of Croatian Serbs — was transferred to Estonia to serve his 35-year sentence for crimes committed against Croats and other non-Serbs in Croatia. He was sentenced June 12, 2007.

Dutch FM to visit Serbia

Dutch foreign minister Maxime Verhagen will visit Serbia July 21. "I am going to Belgrade to talk about further cooperation with Serbia in the economic and other areas," Verhagen said.
He will discuss Serbia's relationship with the Netherlands and the EU but already indicated: "As long as Serbia does not cooperate fully with the tribunal, the SAA cannot be ratified. The Netherlands stands by this." Verhagen said the most recent report of ICTY prosecutor Serge Brammertz to the UN Security Council made it clear that while the situation has improved, "there is no full cooperation yet".
Serbia charged 17 former KLA member over war crimes committed in Kosovo

Serbian war crimes prosecutors indicted 17 ethnic Albanians for war crimes against civilians near Gnjilane in Kosovo committed at the end of a 1999 bombing campaign by NATO. The former KLA members are accused of killing at least 52 Serbs, Roma and Albanians.

Serbs protest against EULEX customs in northern Kosovo

Serb protesters in Leposavic and Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo are blocking roads protesting against the customs control by EULEX at administrative crossings. EULEX introduced the measures in an attempt to prevent smuggling by requesting photocopies of personal identification cards and driver’s licenses from truck drivers.

EU accession talks Croatia canceled over border dispute

The Czech EU presidency canceled talks on Croatia's accession to the block following the collapse of border talks between Croatia and Slovenia. The meeting was scheduled for June 26.
Croatia and Slovenia were supposed to have reached an agreement by last week.
Sweden, which will take over the EU presidency July 1, indicated this week it plans no fresh attempt to help settle the dispute.

Serb convicted for war crimes

Serbia's war crimes court sentenced Damir Sireta to 20 years for his role in the 1991 torture and killing of 200 Croatian prisoners at a pig farm near Vukovar during the 91-95 Balkan war.
Sireta was tried separately after being extradited from Norway, where he had been living since 1998 after his indictment. Others were cnvicted earlier this year.
Former Kosovo prime minister Ceku arrested

Former Kosovo prime minister Agim Ceku was arrested in Bulgaria. Ceku is wanted for war crimes allegedly committed during the 1998-1999 war in the then Serbian-ruled Kosovo when he was military chief of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
UN to push for solution in Greece-Macedonia name dispute

Special UN envoy Matthew Nimetz will visit Greece and Macedonia next month to push for a solution in the name dispute between the two countries. "I believe there are dignified solutions that meet the needs of both sides," he said.
