Slow printing from Nitro PDF

I have always used Adobe's free Reader to read PDF's and the free Primo PDF to create PDF's. Since a while I switched to the also free Nitro PDF, that can both read and create PDF's (currently at version 1.2.0.11).

But if there is one caveat to Nitro PDF it is that printing is rather slow.

Even the smallest PDF grows to incredible proportions while spooling. Take this PDF, for example. It is a 6-page scanned invoice of approximately 6MB:

Printing took forever, as the spooled file size s-l-o-w-l-y grew to 794MB. Yes, that is over 132 times the original file size. Granted, I don't care about the disk space as it is available in abundance. But the time it takes to print this...

You'll find posts like this in the Nitro PDF forums and they are aware of the problem. Despite this issue, I will continue to use Nitro PDF as I think it is a great application.

(By the way, don't forget to disable JavaScript in the preferences.)

Edit: the slow printing issues were resolved with version 2.
